Fred & Joan Long
President and CEO of Xpert Venture Designs Corporation is Fred Long. Fred earned his MBA from York University, BA from the University of Western Ontario, and Diploma in Marketing from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute.
He was Head of Business Studies at Cobourg District Collegiate Institute in Cobourg, Ontario for twenty-one years. He also taught summer courses for the Faculty of Education at the University of Toronto for ten years. In addition, he served as a replacement for a professor on leave for one semester at Sir Sanford Fleming College. One of Fred's teaching specialties was entrepreneurship.
Fred has served on the board of directors and as a business start-up consultant for the Northumberland Community Futures Development Corporation for the past six years. The Corporation focuses on making loans to small businesses for start up, or expansion, as well as regional economic development projects. There are 61 of these Community Futures Development Corporations across Ontario in rural and small city settings. They receive part of their funding from Industry Canada.
Fred also has extensive background in mass media production and hosting. He and his wife Joan live in Cobourg, Ontario, Canada.
Joan is retired from the Cobourg & District Chamber of Commerce. She volunteers for the Northumberland Hills Hospital and the Art Gallery of Northumberland. She belongs to the Cobourg Horticultural Society, and is a member of the Probus Club of Cobourg, a group of retired business and professional people.
